Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) is the Victorian Government’s flagship energy efficiency program andthe largest scheme of its kind in Australia.

The program provides households and businesses with discounted energy efficient products and services. Every Victorian household and business is eligible to access discounts through accredited providers who operate across the state.

Since 2009, the program has:
• Supported more than 1.8 million households and over 100,000 businesses in upgrading appliances and equipment.
• Reduced Victoria’s greenhouse gas emissions by over 60 million tonnes.
• Saved Victoria $4 billion in energy system costs.

The VEU program supports 2,200 jobs each year in Victoria’s energy efficiency and demand-side management industry, including local trades and supply chains across the state.

Eligibility for the VEU

A few points about the Victorian Energy Upgrades rebate program because there are few eligibility criteria:

1. You must upgrade existing equipment with a new, more energy-efficient model. The rebates do not cover completely new installations.
2. You must use an Accredited Provider.
3. You must choose approved models – we can help with this process.
4. You must use a licensed installer to install the equipment (we can also help with this).
5. Your old system must be decommissioned and removed i.e. you can’t install a second system alongside your old one (well you can, but it won’t be covered by a rebate!)
6. Participation in the VEU is encouraged, but not mandatory.
