An energy-efficient heat pump hot water system promoted under the NSW Energy Savings Scheme. The efficient energy group offers generous rebates, enabling businesses to benefit from free hot water solutions.

Heat Pump Hot Water Rebate NSW: Smart Energy-Efficient Hot Water

If you’re one of the many Australians fed up with rising power bills, and annoyed about the ongoing price increases, it’s time to do something about it! You may also be concerned about your carbon footprint. This is where rebates like the Heat Pump Hot Water Rebate NSW can help… Kill 2 birds with one stone, figuratively speaking. Reduce your hot water bills and help save the planet at the same time!

Help Is At Hand!

The NSW government, through its Energy Savings Scheme (ESS), offers a range of incentives to encourage households and businesses to upgrade power-using equipment, like gas or electric hot water systems, to more sustainable models. It works along the lines of – if you replace your old, energy guzzling hot water heater / lighting / air conditioner / pool pump / tools etc with new energy efficient models, the state government will help offset the cost with a rebate.

For many householders and business owners, the end cost to them is often negligible once the applicable rebate kicks in. Furthermore – these new energy efficient systems i.e. heat pumps, typically use up to 50% less energy than the old ones you have installed, or are currently using.

In addition, because the government has partnered with reputable manufacturers, suppliers, and licensed installers, you are guaranteed of getting both a quality product and quality up to code installation. There’s a whole LOT to love about that!

Not sure if you qualify for these rebates? Contact us at Efficient Energy Group and we’ll help you work out if you are.

We’re Sure You Know All This But…

An electric hot water system is one of the biggest energy guzzlers in your home or business premises, accounting for around one-fifth of your energy bill. Furthermore, the older the system, the more power it will be using. Therefore, if you’ve got one of these old dinosaurs, it makes sense to consider replacing it with a more energy efficient one sooner rather than later… Bounce the job right to the top of your ‘To Do’ list.

The same applies for gas hot water heaters because they’re not exactly cheap to run either. If you use bottled gas, there’s the ever-present spectre of running out on a freezing cold day in the middle of winter when you desperately need a nice hot shower! When it also happens just after your local gas supplier closes for the weekend (or a long weekend), that’s adding insult to injury.

The Heat Pump Hot Water Rebate NSW

The Heat Pump Hot Water Rebate NSW is part of the ESS programme. Through this incentive, households and businesses with an existing electric or gas hot water system can get an ‘almost free’ heat pump hot water system. The deal includes both the pump itself, and the installation. All you need to do to set the wheels in motion is make a note of your current electric or gas hot water system and its capacity, and contact us!

How free is almost free?

If you go through Efficient Energy Group, we can install a 170L energy efficient water system for a mere $33 after state and federal government rebates. Yes, you read that price right… Moreover, the deal includes installation by a fully licensed, insured plumber.

If 170L of piping hot water isn’t enough for your business or household, our 280L system will set you back just $399 after rebates. Once again, this price includes all installation costs.

What Is A Heat Pump?

Heat pumps use thermal energy from the air or ground to heat whatever it is they’re heating – water, air etc. They are also specifically designed to transfer more energy into that process than they use to operate. This makes them particularly useful for power hungry applications, like heating water.  In fact, good heat pumps can transfer up to 3 times more energy than they use. If they’re also being powered by renewable energy, that’s an additional win-win situation.

Why Heat Pump Hot Water Systems Are Energy Efficient

The main reason heat pumps are incredibly energy-efficient is because the energy-intensive stuff i.e. heating the water (or air), isn’t done by gas or electricity but by conductive heat transfer. It works, very simply, like this:

  1. Naturally occurring thermal energy (heat) in the air is used to heat (heat transfer) cold liquid refrigerant in evaporating coils in the pump. As the refrigerant warms up it turns into gas.
  2. A compressor then superheats the gas and moves it to a heat exchange unit. In a water heater, this is typically a series of coils immersed in the water to be heated.
  3. As the hot gas runs through the coils in the heat exchanger, its heat is transferred to the cooler water in the tank, heating it up. The hot gas thus cools down and begins to turn back into liquid.
  4. After passing through the heat exchanger, the now cooler refrigerant moves through an expansion valve where it’s rapidly chilled down and returned to liquid.
  5. The cold liquid refrigerant moves back into the evaporating coils to be reheated by naturally occurring thermal energy in the air…

The result is much cheaper hot water, and much lower power bills! A heat pump in fact only needs electricity to run one or two of its components, primarily the compressor. The rest is provided sustainably by nature, and that’s their great beauty…

Heat Pumps, Greenhouse Gases, And Sustainability

Switching out your gas or electric hot water system for a heat pump system comes with many other benefits. Notably, they use up to 50% less energy, which reduces:

  • Their greenhouse gas emissions,
  • Your carbon footprint, and
  • Your power bill.

As previously mentioned, if their electricity is supplied by renewable energy sources, like a solar system, your hot water will be almost 100% sustainably produced. If you’re also eligible for the Heat Pump Hot Water Rebate NSW, your system may be almost 100% free too!
